APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2025–2026 SCHOOL YEAR ARE STILL OPEN
January-11-2026

The Unity Scoop – January 11

Dear Families of Unity,

Happy New Year! I hope this message finds you well, and I send my warmest wishes for a joyful and successful start to 2026.

It was wonderful to welcome students back this week. January marks the midpoint of our school year and the close of Semester 1. Over the next two weeks, we are encouraging all students to finish strong by arriving on time each day, staying on top of assignments, and seeking extra help when needed.

At our middle school, students will take mock ELA and math exams later this month. These assessments help us gauge growth over the yearunderstand grade-level proficiency, and prepare for the spring state exams. The results will also help us fine-tune instruction to best support student learning in the months ahead.

January is also the heart of our winter athletics season. Our student-athletes continue to bring pride and excitement to our community. We have several games and events this week—families are warmly invited to attend and cheer on our teams.

Thank you, as always, for your partnership and support. Enjoy your weekend!

In unity,
Josh

Executive Director / Co-founder

We are thrilled to share with our entire community the accomplishments of our alumni whenever we can.  This month, we proudly provide an update on the postsecondary success of Kayla Tipton ‘21!

Kayla Tipton graduated from Unity in 2021 and earned her B.S. in Psychology from Trinity College in May 2025.

She held many leadership roles at Trinity, including being a Teaching Assistant as well as Orientation Chair where she created a welcoming environment for new students. Kayla also served as a P.R.I.D.E (Promoting Respect for Inclusive Diversity in Education) Liaison where she developed safe and affirming spaces for students at Trinity College.

Kayla currently has a full-time job at Harlem Children’s Zone as a College Counselor, and we could not be more proud of her!
