The Unity Scoop – June 15
Dear Families of Unity,
I want to begin by extending a hearty congratulations to our middle school students for completing their Roundtable Presentations. It was an absolute pleasure to have families and friends of the school attend presentations to show support and encouragement.
In addition, I would also like to extend a hearty congratulations to our high school students who completed their last day of classes on Friday. These events represent major educational milestones at Unity and our entire community should be applauded for our efforts. Indeed, there is strength in Unity!
The milestones for the 2024-25 school year continue in the week ahead. Most prominently, we will celebrate the graduation of our 8th graders on Tuesday. Our high school students will resume their Regents exams (see the calendar below for the exam schedule).
In this edition of The Unity Scoop, we bring to you an abundance of recent highlights, including Roundtables, our College Now students, this week’s award ceremony, our student climbers, senior prom, and some resources available to families this summer.
Finally, on behalf of our full staff and faculty, I extend a hearty note of admiration and gratitude to all of the fathers in our community. Happy Father’s Day to you!
In unity,
Josh

Updates as of June 15, 2025:
1. New – Unity Students Show Off Their New Skills During Roundtables: Congrats to all of our middle school students who completed their Roundtable Presentations this week! Be proud of this milestone achievement. We were truly impressed by the skills, effort, and growth our students displayed. Family members – we hope you enjoyed the experience. Congratulations to you, too!
2. New – Congratulations to Unity High’s College Now Students!: We are proud of our College Now students, who completed college-level courses at City Tech this past semester. These impressive students seized the opportunity to experience college life on a college campus while earning credits toward their future academic goals—all while still in high school. We commend these students for challenging themselves and stepping outside their comfort zones. We look forward to celebrating even more Unity students as they join the College Now program in the future!
3. New – Unity Middle’s End-of-Year Ceremony Honors our Students’ Spring Semester Achievements in 2024-25!: An abundance of students were celebrated for their achievements during Thursday’s Awards Ceremony. Congratulations to all recipients, including our Caregiver Award recipient!

New – Unity High’s Climbing Club Reaches New Heights!: During the April break, Mr. Pakter and eight Unity High students from our Climbing Club ventured to Minnewaska State Park in New Paltz for some high-quality climbing. 5. New – Unity’s Seniors Celebrate in Style During their Proms!: Our 12th graders had a great time dancing the night away at prom earlier this month. Thank you to our staff who coordinated the events, and thank you to our staff chaperones who dressed up and had fun alongside our soon-to-be graduates!
6. New – Unity Dance Scholars Shine in a Tribute to Hip Hop and R&B: Unity’s Dance Program celebrated student voice, culture, and creativity at our End-of-Year Roundtables and Student-Curated Performances. This year’s theme, “Honoring the Legacy: Hip Hop and R&B,” paid tribute to the music, movement, and icons that have shaped generations. Through reflective presentations and powerful choreography, Ms. McRae and her Dance scholars honored the rhythms and stories that continue to inspire. We’re so proud of the heart and hard work our students put into this celebration!
