The Unity Scoop – June 5
Dear Families of Unity,
Congratulations to our middle school students, team, and families on completing the final full day of regular classes today! This marks a major milestone in our students’ educational journeys and is a noteworthy accomplishment for our teachers, staff, and families. Congratulations to all!
In addition, congratulations to our Unity student-athletes who celebrated their accomplishments this week. Shout-out to Mr. Coleman and Mr. Egharevba for organizing such meaningful events!
We also applaud our dance students for their performances this past week. Kudos to Ms. McRae for bringing these enriching experiences to life for our students and broader community!
Looking ahead, at the middle school, students will engage in their end-of-year trips on Monday, take part in their last day of classes on Tuesday, and engage in their Roundtable presentations starting Wednesday. Meanwhile, our high school students will wrap up their final full week of regular classes and begin their Regents exams. We are incredibly proud of our students’ hard work and perseverance. Stay focused, do your best, and take pride in all you’ve accomplished. You’ve got this!
In this edition of The Unity Scoop, we bring to you several highlights from this past week’s festivities, including our middle school dance showcase and Roundtable preparation. We also honor our Students with stellar attendance for the month of May!
In unity,
Josh

Updates as of June 5, 2026:
1. New – Celebrating NYC Through Dance!
This week, our middle school students took the stage for Roots of the City, a student-curated dance showcase celebrating the music, movement, stories, and cultural icons that have shaped New York City. Through their performances, students showcased their creativity, hard work, and pride in our city.
2. New – Preparing for Roundtables at Unity Prep Middle School
Our 6th and 7th grade scholars are hard at work preparing for Roundtables, refining both their ideas and presentation skills. Later this month, they will be sharing their learning with families and peers. Students are engaging with real-world issues that require research, critical thinking, and persuasive communication, including:
●petitioning for environmental policy changes
●analyzing data on ways to reduce our carbon footprint
Along the way, scholars are practicing public speaking, collaborating with classmates, and strengthening their ability to present evidence-based arguments with confidence. We can’t wait to see them showcase their hard work and impress friends and family during Roundtables!
3. New – Perfect Attendance from May!
The following lengthy list of students demonstrated a strong and consistent dedication to their education by showing stellar attendance this past month. Kudos to these students – we love seeing you each and every day! And, of course, we look forward to celebrating additional students at the end of this month!
