Unity is Grateful for Your Continued Support!

Dear friends, family, community members, and supporters of Unity,

As we approach the midpoint of our sixth school year and reflect back on the past twelve months as well as look forward to the remainder of the 2018-19 school and beyond, there is much to be joyous for.  Recent milestones include:

  • The New York State Education Department granted Unity the maximum-allowable renewal of its charter:  Our 5-year renewal not only represents state’s confidence in our mission and vision, but also in our ability to deliver on them.
  • We secured our very own high school facility:  Our high school now has a brand new home in the bustling Brooklyn neighborhood of Williamsburg.  We are now actively leveraging the abundance of resources in the area to provide meaningful experiences for our students that bolster their preparedness for college and career success.
  • Our students continue to outperform their district peers on the 8th grade state assessments in mathematics, English language arts, and science:  As a 100%, open-enrollment, tuition-free public school, we take pride in meeting our incoming 6th grade students where they are and, over their middle schools years, developing their skills and talents so that they are fully equipped to engage in a rigorous high school course of study upon completing 8th grade.
  • We expanded our middle- and high-school curriculum to offer certified high school- and college- ready courses: For the first time, we are offering Advanced Placement (AP) courses at our growing high school.  Approximately 78% of our 11th graders are currently enrolled in at least one AP course. This compares favorably with the 33% of NYC graduates who enroll in AP courses during their high school tenure.

In building on these notable accomplishments, our hearts and minds are focused on continuing to lay the tracks for postsecondary success as our founding class approaches graduation in the spring of 2020.  Moreover, we are steadfast in our efforts to continue enhancing our existing academic and extra-curricular programs as a premier school and a great source of pride for our community.

As we forge ahead in our quest, I kindly request that you continue to support our school and mission by making a donation by year end.  Your past generosity has allowed over 500 families to experience the education that they have always wanted for their children. Making a donation now will directly support us not only in sustaining our current programs, but in making them even better.  I thank you in advance for your contribution.

I end this note by sharing some photos that feature our students fully immersed in a Unity education.  I hope they bring to you the same smile and sense of pride that they bring to me.

Again, many thanks and warmest wishes to you and yours this holiday season,

Josh Beauregard
